Washington County would like to open a mental health crisis center by early next year, hoping to create another option for people who have typically ended up in an emergency room or a jail.
County commission chairman Andy Duyck, while delivering the State of the County address Thursday morning, mentioned the crisis center among the county’s priorities. Other priorities included a seismically safe dam at Hagg Lake, transportation funding and voter approval for a revamped emergency communications system.
For the Mental Health Urgent Care Center, county officials are looking for a 13,000- to 15,000-square-foot facility to either lease or buy. It would ideally be located near public transit.
