Thanksgiving at the Alano Club

The Alano Club - Portland's Historic Recovery Support Center
Dear Friend,

The holidays can be a stressful time of year for many, but for those new to recovery it can also be a dangerous time, with relapse right around the corner. And with private and public resources for recovery and social service programs continuing to shrink, the need to have access to 12-Step meetings and a supportive community of people in recovery is more critical than ever.

That’s why it’s so important to have a safe haven like the Alano Club of Portland available to those who need extra support during this time of year. I hope you’ll make a special contribution today to help provide a safe home and a traditional, hot turkey dinner with all the trimmings, free of charge for our recovery community on Thanksgiving Day.

As a Club member Mark recalled:

“When I think back to when I got sober I remember that first Thanksgiving…being at the Club that day put my problems in perspective and helped me realize what I really needed was right in front of me: an opportunity to be of service and to help others. A free turkey dinner with a bunch of sober people who understood and accepted me was icing on the cake.”

Please make a contribution now to help the hundreds of men, women and families, especially those new to sobriety like Mark, who turn to the Club for additional help around the holiday – we can’t do it without your support.

Warm regards,
Brent Canode
