State Mental Health Caucus Holds First Meeting

On January 29, Representative Ron Maurer convened this session’s first Mental Health Caucus meeting. The Caucus was begun during the 2007 Session by former Senator Avel Gordly. It provides a forum for information sharing on mental health and chemical dependency issues during the legislature session.


The Caucus will meet every other Thursday from noon to 1:00 in Room 343 at the Capitol. All are welcome to attend or participate by phone at 503-378-3313. If you would like to receive email reminders for Caucus meetings, send your request to: Maurer.Rep@state.or.us

At this Thursday’s meeting, a discussion of current issues was led by Richard Harris, Interim Director of the Addictions and Mental Health Division of the Department of Human Services. Among many matters discussed, the release of a new report titled Assessment and Evaluation of the Mental Health Care Delivery System in Oregon was announced.

The report was prepared by an independent consultant, the Public Consulting Group and funded by the legislature. The full report can be found at:
