Join the Portland Alano Club and top ultra-runner and fellow recovery member, Yassine Diboun of Wy’east Wolfpack, for a special FREE 4-week Running + Recovery Series.
Every Sunday in September we will meet at the Leif Erickson gate in Forest Park at 10 AM, where Yassine will give a brief talk on a specific aspect of running, and then lead us on a fun and casual group run in the park.
September is also National Recovery Month, and what better way to celebrate than by running with your friends in recovery, along some of the most beautiful and scenic trails any urban park in the country has to offer.
No previous running experience is needed and everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend!
As a special incentive for completing the Running + Recovery Series, each finisher will get a special t-shirt from Territory Run Co. ($30 value) and a Salt & Straw gift card ($10 value), as well as other little perks from Wy’east Wolfpack!
Research has shown that running and other physical activity decreases anxiety and stress, and helps increase levels of dopamine in the brain.
Studies also show that consistent physical activity not only helps to decrease drug and alcohol cravings by supplying the brain with a natural dopamine boost, it also has been shown to mitigate the brain damage caused by substance use disorders.
Join us in September on the trails for some of the most fun adventure you’ll ever have in recovery!
About Yassine Diboun:
Clean and sober since July of 2004, one day at a time, Yassine has jumped in feet first making a big splash into the world of endurance running and outdoor adventuring. Yassine has raced everything from 1-mile to the 100-mile distance, often placing near the top, but has found there is more to it than trying to clock the fastest times. This new way of life is more than another obsessive addiction; it has become a physical, mental, emotional, & spiritual outlet for him and many others.
