Mary Wheeler is a historian whose work is grounded in collaborative partnerships with public outcomes. She has experience as a program director, researcher, evaluator, and grant writer. She achieved her Ph.D. candidacy in history at the University of Michigan, where her research focused on 20th century U.S. political culture, oral history, education, and gender studies. She has conducted research to inform policy, curriculum development, and interpretative media. She has performed evaluations for a variety of non-profit and government agencies, and directed professional development programs for K-12 educators. She has managed complex partnerships and collaborations among diverse stakeholders in multiple settings.

Mary currently serves as executive director of the Northwest History Network, a non-profit consortium of history professionals, serves on the Oregon 2012 Woman Suffrage Centennial Committee, and chairs the outreach committee of the Portsmouth Neighborhood Association.

Mary joined the board of directors of the Mental Health Association of Portland in July 2009
