Lincoln County sheriff’s deputies failed to respond to the needs of an inmate who suffered from mental illness and was found dead, lying naked in a jail cell in April 2015, about two weeks after he was booked on misdemeanor allegations, a federal lawsuit filed Friday alleges.
Bradley Thomas was 55 when he died April 8, 2015, of significant dehydration, according to an autopsy. The cause of death was listed as: “sudden death in schizophrenic patient,” the lawsuit said.
Bradley Thomas’ brother and mother filed the federal civil rights and wrongful death lawsuit against Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office and its jail staff Friday afternoon in U.S. District Court in Eugene.
