The new director of Oregon’s Addictions and Mental Health Division, Pamela A. Martin, will discuss the public mental health system Thursday, Aug. 1 at Oregon Health & Science University in Portland.

Martin, a psychologist and Ph.D., worked in New Mexico’s mental health system for 35 years before beginning in Oregon in May. Her talk – “Beyond the Safety Net: Behavioral Health in an Integrated Setting” — is free, but registration is required at http://pamelamartin.eventbrite.com .

A reception for Martin before the talk begins at 6 p.m. The talk will be in the OHSU Auditorium, 3181 Southwest Sam Jackson Park Road.

The speech is hosted by the Mental Health Association of Portland and sponsored by about 20 organizations including Health Share of Oregon.
