Anonymous People – Sunday night!

Join us for the Portland screening of “The Anonymous People”, a feature-length documentary about the New Recovery Advocacy Movement in the United States. The film will screen for only one night at Cinema 21.

Sunday September 29th at 7 PM. Suggested donation is $10 at Cinema 21 Theater, 626 NW 21st Avenue.

“The Anonymous People” is being presented by Hands Across the Bridge Project, a non-profit organization that builds leaders and advocates for the recovering community in Oregon and SW Washington by encouraging people in recovery to develop their voices and speak out on recovery related issues in their community.

In the film producer’s own words:

“The Anonymous People is about the 23.5 million Americans living in long-term recovery from alcoholism and other drug addictions. Deeply entrenched social stigma and mass participation in widely successful anonymous 12-step groups have kept recovery voices silent and faces hidden for decades. The vacuum created by this silence has been filled by sensational mass media depictions of addiction that continue to perpetuate a lurid public fascination with the dysfunctional side of what is a preventable and treatable health condition.”
