For six years the Mental Health Association of Portland has been producing the documentary film, Alien Boy: the Life and Death of James Chasse.
The film relates both the life and death of James Chasse with over 75 interviews with friends, family, legal and medical experts, police and politicians. Director Brian Lindstrom and his team of filmmakers has worked tirelessly to bring together the myriad threads of Chasse’s brutal death – and the parts of his life which made sense, gave character, and made life bearable.

Friends and allies of the Mental Health Association of Portland fully sponsored the film and today we proudly announce Alien Boy is sufficiently finished to be submitted for competition to the prestigious Sundance Film Festival.
The Sundance Film Festival will take place January 19-29, 2012. Oregon filmmaker Peter Richardson won the 2011 documentary award with his stunning film, How to Die in Oregon.
